Support for your research meetings
If you're a Parkinson's researcher, we can offer support and up to £3,000 to set up a meeting or workshop.
Parkinson's UK-supported meetings bring the right people together to get to the heart of complex issues and stimulate new research ideas.
Our meetings can also give you an opportunity to involve people with Parkinson's in your research.
Delivering tangible outcomes
Research meetings are led by one or two researchers - we encourage applications from basic scientists, clinicians and healthcare practitioners based at UK research institutions.
Your meeting should have clear and predefined outcomes that could include:
- an application for research grant funding
- publishing discussion papers or review articles
- establishing a research consortium
We are particularly keen to support meetings based around the priorities and unmet needs of people with Parkinson’s. We recommend that researchers familiarise themselves with papers detailing the priorities and areas of unmet needs of people with Parkinson's, including those published by Parkinson's UK (Port et al., 2021 and Deane et al., 2014).
These awards may not be used to support training or education opportunities.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted at least 3 months in advance of the planned event. We expect funding decisions to be made within 4 weeks of receiving an application.
For more information or to discuss your idea for a meeting please contact the research team at [email protected].
Priorities for improving life
To help us focus on what matters most, we worked with people with Parkinson's and their families to come up with a list of key priorities for improving everyday life in the shorter term.
