Health and social care grants

Call for expressions of interest in research on health and social care services for people with Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s UK is commissioning research to tackle the most important gaps in evidence on the effectiveness of health and social care services for people with Parkinson’s.

The aim of this research is to generate evidence to support improvements in care for people affected by Parkinson’s.

We are now inviting applications for research projects in these two areas:

  • The impact and/or optimal configuration of Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist Services
  • The effectiveness of physiotherapy at the early stage of Parkinson’s

There are two stages in the application process. In this first stage, we are asking interested applicants to outline how they would approach research in either of these areas.

To get an indication of the time needed to generate useful evidence and to help ensure value for money, we are asking applicants in this first stage to outline the following:

  1. What evidence to support improvements in care could be generated within two years and with funding of £100,000?
  2. If more time and resources are required to generate useful evidence, why is this needed? (The maximum length of time for a study is three years.)

The deadline for expressions of interest is likely to be in 2020.

Following peer review, we will invite shortlisted applicants to submit a full application.
