Jointly funded MRC fellowships
We're proud to be collaborating with the Medical Research Council (MRC) to jointly fund fellowship schemes.
MRC Career Development Awards
Up to one fellowship is awarded each year under this scheme, jointly funded by Parkinson’s UK and the MRC. Application rounds open twice a year, closing in April and September.
The upcoming deadlines for the Career Development Awards scheme are:
- 13 September 2023
- tbc April 2024
- tbc September 2024

Career Development Awards are offered over 5 years with no limit on the amount of funding you can apply for. Your salary and project costs for up to five years will be funded at 80% of the full economic cost.

As part of a jointly funded award, fellows would be required to submit annual and final reports to Parkinson's UK and to submit grant evaluation data to Researchfish annually.
Grantholders are also asked to host up to 2 engagement activities with people affected by Parkinson's.

MRC Clinical research training fellowships
Up to 2 Clinical Research Training Fellowships are available under this scheme each year, jointly funded by Parkinson's UK and the MRC. Application rounds open three times per year, closing in January, April and September.

- 11 January 2024
- 3 April 2024

Clinical Research Training Fellowships are offered over 3 years. Your salary, plus project costs of up to £20,000 per year, will be covered for up to three years.
This funding is not subject to full economic costing (estates and indirect costs are therefore not payable) and awards are made at 100% of the requested funding.
These awards are available for registered healthcare professionals.
