Your views are needed on the use of digital technologies for NHS talking therapies
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) wants to hear your views on how digital technology is used by NHS talking therapies.
What are NHS talking therapies?
NHS talking therapies provide free and confidential support for mental health challenges, such as depression and anxiety. These therapies are delivered by fully trained and accredited NHS practitioners.
They are available to anyone registered with a GP, including people with Parkinson’s, and you do not need a formal mental health diagnosis or GP referral. People can refer themselves directly for the service. Read more about referring yourself for this service.
What are digital technologies?
Digital technologies help guide the clinical assessment for NHS talking therapies. They are also known as ‘digital front door technologies’, ‘digital triage tools’, or ‘digital pre-assessment tools’.
Examples include online referral forms or artificial intelligence (AI) powered chatbots that collect contact information and details of a person’s symptoms.
What are your views?
NICE is currently reviewing the use of digital technologies for pre-assessing (triaging) people before their clinical assessment for NHS talking therapies. They want to hear from people who have both used these technologies to access the NHS talking therapies service and also people who have not used them.
