Fighting Fit

Fighting Fit is a residential weekend for people newly diagnosed with Parkinson's and their loved ones.

Fighting Fit weekends currently take place in south-east England and focus on physical activity, wellbeing, medication and complementary therapies. We have 3 Fighting Fit weekends planned for 2025.

You must complete an application form at the bottom of this page to make sure the programme is right for you.

Who is the programme for?

Fighting Fit is for people newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s. The programme is designed for both people with Parkinson’s and their partners, friends, family or carers, so you can go through the programme together.

What does the programme cover?

  • A focus on the importance of physical activity and exercise and how it can help control the progression of motor symptoms and support your mental wellbeing.
  • Practical tips and tricks to help manage Parkinson’s symptoms.
  • Support to develop a personal plan for beyond your Fighting Fit weekend.
  • Chance to meet others living with Parkinson’s, make new friends and share experiences.

When are the Fighting Fit weekends?

We have the dates and locations confirmed for 3 Fighting Fit weekends in south-east England in 2025. The programme runs from Friday to Sunday.

  • Cookham: 16 to 18 May 2025, CIM Conference Centre, SL6 9QH
  • Winchester: 11 to 13 July 2025, Sparsholt Conferences and Events, Sparsholt College, SO21 2NF
  • Canterbury: 5 to 7 September 2025, University of Kent, Keynes College CT2 7NP

How much does Fighting Fit cost?

The all-inclusive price for a Fighting Fit residential weekend is £200 for a single place and £370 for a double place. If you need help towards the cost of the programme, a bursary can be applied for. Please email [email protected] for more information.

The cost includes:

  • accommodation for 2 nights
  • full board including breakfast, lunch and evening meal
  • conference facilities
  • Fighting Fit programme fee
  • tea and coffee during breaks.

How do I apply?

You must complete this application on Google forms. This is to help make sure Fighting Fit is right for you.

We will give priority to applications if:

  • this is the first time you have attended a Fighting Fit weekend
  • you live in the south-east of the UK in Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire or the Isle of Wight.
