Using brain scans to investigate why Parkinson’s is so variable
Researchers at University College London want to follow changes in the brains of people with Parkinson’s over time using MRI scans. They aim to use this knowledge to develop new ways of diagnosing Parkinson’s earlier.
50 people with Familial Parkinson’s, that has been confirmed through genetic testing
• between 30 and 75 years old
• who live in England
If you are eligible to take part you will be invited to attend 3 visits at the research site in London over a 1 year period.
These visits will last between 4 and 4.5 hours and involve having an examination with a consultant neurologist, filling out surveys, giving blood samples, having MRI scans, and completing tests.
You will be asked to not take your medication on the morning of the second and third visits if possible.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed, including taxi rides and local hotel rooms if needed when not taking medication.
