Research Champions: let's raise awareness of research
Activities and information to help Research Champions get more people involved in research.
Blood test shows promise for identifying Parkinson’s before movement symptoms
Researchers at University College London, co-funded by Parkinson’s UK, have developed a test that was 100% accurate in identifying Parkinson’s when comparing blood samples from people with and without the condition. The test was also able to identify Parkinson’s years before movement symptoms began, which is a major step forward in the search for better diagnostics.
Active Grants 2024
We have updated our Active Grants Document which showcases all of the Parkinson’s research that we are funding. We’re currently funding over £15m towards our research grants programme across 45 projects.
Watch a Michael J Fox Foundation webinar about volunteering for research
Panellists include a Movement Disorder Specialist and two people with Parkinson’s who discuss the experience and impact of participating in research studies. They cover how to find the right study for you, what to expect as a participant, and how you can help shape what and how research is done.
You might find it useful to hear their perspectives and experiences taking part in the USA. You can register on the Michael J Fox Foundation website to watch the recorded webinar.
This leaflet is designed as a 'first touch' information resource for everyone who is interested in research. You can order 20 leaflets at a time for free.
Great for introducing your neighbours, local GP surgery, Parkinson's support group or patients to research.
We'll give the group an overview of the latest research and how the Parkinson's community can get involved through our Research Support Network.
Individual groups can request a member of our research team join them via Zoom. We may be able to attend larger events in-person.
