Luke and Blake re-release their 1967 single "Big Day" for Parkinson's UK
"Big Day", written by David Capri in 1967 as part of the Sixties duo Luke and Blake, has been re-released with the support of broadcasting legend David ‘Kid’ Jensen to raise vital funds for Parkinson’s UK.
The single was originally released by the duo, David Capri and Stephen Stern, in June 1967. The duo chose to donate profits to Parkinson’s UK due to their close friendship with the radio broadcasting legend David ‘Kid’ Jensen, who was diagnosed with the condition in 2013.

Paul Jackson-Clark, Director of Engagement at Parkinson’s UK, said:
"We're incredibly grateful to Luke and Blake for offering all proceeds from downloads and streaming of their song to Parkinson’s UK. We also want to say a big thank you to their friend David Jensen, a great ambassador for the charity whose own Parkinson's diagnosis inspired their fundraising.
"Their generosity will make a real difference to over a million people with the condition, family members, friends and carers, who need Parkinson’s UK now more than ever.
"Parkinson’s puts some people at increased risk of complications if they get coronavirus. Because of this, they have pressing concerns and questions. And these are changing every day.
"Luke and Blake’s support will help us adapt our support, from boosting our helpline capacity to making sure people who normally receive face-to-face support continue to do so in new ways. Together, we’ll deliver what people need, wherever they are, when they need it most."
Since publicly announcing his Parkinson’s diagnosis, David Jensen has been a fantastic ambassador for the charity, and a dedicated advocate for everyone affected by the condition.
Former Radio 1 DJ and Top of the Pops presenter David 'Kid' Jensen described the single as "a bright and melodic track", adding that "it's very up and somehow, very now!". He said:
"In these difficult times, like many charities, Parkinson's UK needs your help. Please give your support and help raise vital funds by downloading "BIG DAY" by LUKE AND BLAKE today."
When first released in 1967, the single "Big Day" featured in the charts alongside the Beach Boys, Mamas and Papas, and The Beatles’ hit "All You Need Is Love".
