Parkinson's UK and Everyone Active scoop 2024 Business Charity Award
Everyone Active celebrates as one of the award winners at this year's Third Sector Business Charity Awards for their partnership with Parkinson's UK.
Gym and leisure centre provider, Everyone Active, has been announced as the winner of the 2024 Sport, Travel and Leisure award at the annual Third Sector Business Charity Awards for their partnership with Parkinson's UK.
We've been working with Everyone Active since April 2022 to help more people enjoy an active lifestyle with Parkinson's.
The award recognises the work of both organisations and the delivery of a free gym membership programme which has been available since 2022 for people living with Parkinson's and their carers at more than 200 Everyone Active centres across England.
Since the partnership started, more than 2,000 people living with Parkinson's in England have taken advantage of the free membership offer. We hope that even more people will be able to enjoy an active lifestyle at their local leisure centre following this award.
The award also recognised the training that Everyone Active has provided for its staff to help them better understand the needs of the Parkinson's community and for their Parkinson's buddy scheme which helps new members to get started at their local centre.
The free Parkinson's membership offer includes:
- use of gym equipment
- swim facilities (where applicable)
- group exercise classes
- Synergy Dance online classes.
There's a huge range of activities to help you start being active and to keep going. No matter what stage of Parkinson's you're at, or what your physical ability is, there's something for everyone.
Tom Ingram, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Parkinson's UK, said:
"We're delighted that Everyone Active and Parkinson's UK have been recognised as the 2024 Sport, Travel and Leisure award winners at the Third Sector Business Charity Awards.
"Since the launch of our partnership with Everyone Active in 2022 we've seen a fantastic uptake in the free gym and leisure memberships from the Parkinson's community.
"We hope that even more people living with the condition, and their carers, will take advantage of the free memberships across England. I would also like to thank the team at Everyone Active for their support and generosity since our partnership first started."
