BoyleSports to raise money for Parkinson’s UK at darts tournament
Bookmaker BoyleSports has once again pledged to support Parkinson’s UK by raising money at the 2022 World Grand Prix.
BoyleSports will donate £500 to the charity for every ‘full house’ achieved during the tournament, which starts on 3 October at the Morningside Arena, Leicester. A full house is when a player who wins the match also gets the most 180s (the highest possible score when throwing only 3 darts) and the highest checkout (the final darts a player throws during a single game).
At 2021’s tournament, BoyleSports donated £10,000 to Parkinson’s UK following a great week of darts. A fantastic £6,000 was raised during the tournament, with BoyleSports generously boosting the pot to a total of £10,000.
Leon Blanche, Head of Communications for BoyleSports, said:
"Many of us know someone affected by Parkinson’s and we are pleased to champion a charity close to so many peoples’ hearts.
"With the likes of defending champion Jonny Clayton, Gerwyn Price, Michael van Gerwen and Dave Chisnall taking part, we are certain we’ll see the full house landing throughout the week and we’ll be cheering on each and every player knowing that it will support such a worthy cause."
Dave Clark, a former Sky Sports darts presenter and high-profile supporter of Parkinson’s UK, said:
"A big thank you to BoyleSports for once again supporting Parkinson’s UK, a cause that is close to my heart.
"I’ve been living with Parkinson’s for 11 years now. It’s not always been easy. It’s a relentless and unpredictable condition, but I’m determined to stay positive and live the best possible life I can.
"There are around 145,000 people in the UK who like me, face the daily challenges that Parkinson’s can throw at you, so finding new and better treatments just can’t wait.
"Parkinson's UK has made huge breakthroughs in the last 50 years, but there is still no cure and current treatments are not good enough, and the money raised during the BoyleSports World Grand Prix will help drive that forward and make a big difference to everyone living with Parkinson's."
