Parkinson's UK members meet the trustees at exclusive online event
In July, we had the pleasure of hosting Membership Matters, an online event exclusively for Parkinson's UK members. We were delighted to see over 200 members sign up to either join us live or watch the recording later.
Throughout the hour-long session, our trustees Gary Shaughnessy, Sally Bromley, and Elaine Evans addressed the latest Parkinson’s UK initiatives and a range of key questions raised by our members. Their talks covered several topics, from the latest in Parkinson's research and emerging technology to the invaluable role of Parkinson’s nurses.
Questions such as "When will we find a cure?", "How can we support our loved ones and their symptoms?", and "Does membership need to be renewed annually?" were thoughtfully discussed. Our members voiced that the responses they received were "comprehensive" and that they provided "hope for the future" which was wonderful to hear.
The event wasn’t just about seeking answers, it was also a platform for sharing personal and lived experiences. Board members candidly spoke about their Parkinson's journeys, and the highs and lows they’ve faced. Our members shared that they appreciated the "openness and honesty" of our trustees.
A highlight of the event was an exclusive sneak peek into our much-anticipated Par-Con conference in October. Attendees got a preview of what to expect, including the announcement of key guest speakers attending the event.
Thank you
We’d like to thank all members who participated and engaged with this session, whether you submitted a question, or listened to the talks. It was great to connect with you all and learn more about your interests and needs as a part of the community.
