UK funders
The BBSRC is one of the UK's leading funders of academic research in the biosciences. They invite applications for long and short term research projects in a range of areas.
Cure Parkinson's Trust funds and facilitates laboratory or clinical research projects with the potential to advance knowledge that might lead to a cure for Parkinson’s.

The Guarantors of Brain invite applications for their visiting lecturer bursary scheme, which is open to both international and British researchers. They also provide travel grants, fellowships and other opportunities.
The Leverhulme Trust offers a number of grants to support researchers at all stages of their career. Their funding programmes are designed to focus on individual researchers and encompasses all subject areas.
The MRC offers a number of funding opportunities in the areas of infections and immunity, molecular and cellular medicine, neurosciences and mental health, population and systems medicine, global health and translation.
The Multiple System Atropy Trust has an annual grant call for projects that are consistent with the criteria of their research strategy.
The NIHR invites researchers, research teams and organisations to apply for their range of grants in the areas of health, public health and social care research, as well as training and career development opportunities.
The Neuroscience Research Foundation, part of the University of London, has 2 grant calls a year, with the aim of funding and supporting neuroscience researchers in patient-centred projects.
The PSPA funds research on an ad-hoc basis to projects that are consistent with their vision to improve the lives of those with, and ultimately find a cure for, PSP.
Wellcome Trust offers a wide number of grants with many deadlines throughout the year, accepting applications on the topics of sustaining health, biomedical science, innovations, public engagement, medical humanities and society and ethics.
International funders

The Michael J. Fox Foundation has a strong emphasis on funding translational and clinical research. Their current programmes cover target advancement, therapeutic development and outcome measures.
NINDS is part of the US National Institutes of Health.
Their website highlights a number of Parkinson's research specific funding opportunities, many of which are open to applications from outside the US.
The Parkinson's Foundation focuses on supporting the world's top Parkinson's experts working to discover the best treatment and care options for people living with Parkinson’s.
It offers a number of grants to international clinical and basic researchers. In addition, applications to the its Advancing Parkinson's Treatment Program, for conference and patient involvement awards, are open all year round.
