James Parkinson’s ‘Essay on the Shaking Palsy’, published in 1817, recognised Parkinson’s as a medical condition for the first time. We mark his birthday every 11 April with World Parkinson’s Day, a day to shine a spotlight on Parkinson’s and our community.
Thank you for taking part in our World Parkinson's Day activities. Together, we can create a greater understanding of the challenges people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones face.
World Parkinson's Day 2025
Over 180 iconic landmarks, buildings and homes lit up blue to shine a light on people with Parkinson’s, and the people who love and care for them.
As part of our Knit it Blue campaign, we received over 500 beautiful knitted tulips.
From information stalls to cake sales and exercise classes, over 150 incredible community events were hosted by you.
