Resources for local groups

If you're volunteering for one of our local groups here are some of the documents and resources you'll need.

The local group directory is a guide to help local groups provide the best possible support to people living with Parkinson's. It can be downloaded below:

The local group operating framework:

  • ensures that local groups fully meet the needs of everyone affected by Parkinson’s while being compliant with relevant governance requirements.

  • gives a clear steer of the responsibilities and actions required by all lead volunteers.

  • underpins the procedures in the local group directory.

It is available below:

We have a range of resources and products to help support the running of your group. Some of these can be ordered free of charge.

Free resources

This document lists all free resources available to volunteers. To use the order form, please make a copy or download it to edit. Once you’ve found the item you’d like to order, call our Supporter Care team on 0800 138 6593 or email [email protected]. The team will let you know how long the item will take to reach you. Most items should arrive within 7 working days of placing your order.

The list of resources will be regularly updated by our Trading Manager. If for any reason when you contact our Supporter Care team an item you want is out of stock, they’ll let you know, and do their best to suggest an alternative item.

Branded merchandise and daily living aids

The Parkinson's UK online shop stocks a range of branded products and daily living aids. These items can be ordered and paid for online. If you would like to pay by cheque for items from the online shop, our Supporter Care team can send you a catalogue. You can call them on 020 7931 8080.

The risk assessment form is designed to help groups risk assess an activity, and identify and deal with potential hazards which could cause harm.

For any questions or concerns about risk assessments or insurance matters, please contact our facilities manager on 020 7963 9395 or email [email protected].

For more information about any of the above resources, please email [email protected].

Data handling guidance

Local groups must ensure that they comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Our UK GDPR Guidance (PDF, 107KB) and Volunteer Data Protection Guidance (PDF, 201KB) tells you everything you need to know about GDPR, and the key things local groups need to consider.

If you are a volunteer who handles information about people as part of your role, our Advanced Data Protection training will help you to feel more confident in how to manage, process and collect information about people that you may come into contact with.

Consent form

We take the protection of the data we hold about our local group members and attendees seriously. We will do everything possible to ensure that data is collected, stored, processed, maintained and retained in accordance with current and future UK data protection legislation.

Our local group consent form for new attendees (Word, 130KB) allows new attendees to provide their details and select their preferences.

Guidance for signatories

If you are a signatory for a Parkinson’s UK branch, support group or activity group, our guidance for signatories (PDF, 145KB) tells you everything you need to know about the use of funds, internal controls, and constraints.

Download our Local Networks Privacy Notice (Google doc, 76KB) for more information on how we handle local group data. Groups can download and edit the template doc with relevant privacy practices that are in place.
